THE FINNISH CP ASSOCIATION
Founded in 1965, the Finnish CP Association has 20 local member associations around the country. As a national disability organisation, the Finnish CP Association monitors the realisation of the rights of persons with Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida or hydrocephalus and their families. The activities of the Finnish CP Association focus on habilitation, extensive service provision, housing services and information dissemination.
As a national organisation, the Association
promotes equal opportunities in society for persons with CP, Spina Bifida (MMC)
and hydrocephalus or other childhood-onset physical disabilities of neurologic
origin.
The basic goal of the Finnish CP Association is a widely
accepted in disability politics: equality and full participation in society.
The activities of the association are funded by Finland's Slot Machine Association (RAY).

The Finnish CP Association believes in its members’ abilities and values their first-hand expertise on disability. Its operations are based on agreements negotiated with the members in a manner that ensures their participation and autonomy.

In its efforts to safeguard equal opportunities for social participation, the Finnish CP Association takes into account the actual needs, qualities and requirements of each individual.
Wide-ranging expertise
The Finnish CP Association gathers expertise in individual, communal and social phenomena related to disability and develops its operations with a view to ensuring that the rights of persons with disabilities are considered in political and community decision-making.
Community spirit
The Finnish CP Association wants to provide a safe operating environment for its members. Aware of the needs of its members, the Association encourages their interaction and mutual cooperation.
Societal impact
The Finnish CP Association is involved in service planning and decision-making with the aim of changing the surrounding structures, services and attitudes and thus contributing to a new kind of society where everyone has equal opportunities to participate and to lead full life.
